Christian Dior was a very interesting man who grew up rich but then in his early twenties he became poor. A believer in all things mysterious like horoscopes, tarot cards, mythology, and the cosmos, he one day happened to meet a fortune-teller who told him that he was to be very, very rich one day and that his riches would come from clothing beautiful and wealthy women.
Later on, during the time when he was broke and his brother was in an insane asylum, he took pencil to paper and started drawing beautiful pictures of women in very elaborate dresses. He started selling the drawings to earn money. When walking down the street one day, he came upon a golden star medallion just lying on the ground. Possibly a reminder of World War? But nevertheless, Mr. Dior took this humble gold star and made it his emblem. He considered it a sign from above that his wishes were to come true.
After that, Dior became a designer himself, not just an illustrator. He dressed many famous women and made lots of money. Money that he could never dream of he started making it. But it all came to an end in his fifties when suddenly he died of a heart attack or stroke in a small Italian town. His effort of making a company and making lots of money lasted just ten years. He left a whole company that now sells and makes even more money than Dior himself could ever imagine!
Now, look at the designs for fall/winter 2026/2027 below.
