This fall and winter season, Chanel is changing the game with new structured handbags in embossed crocodile leather and simple cloth bags with a touch of diamond-weave stitching that is barely visible. It is a far cry from the good old days of Karl Langerfeld’s Chanel. During the time of Karl Langerfeld, the diamond-weave pattern was so bold and evident on every handbag. Karl had a more classic style and approach to Chanel that I think is lost with Matthew Blaze’s Chanel. Even though I appreciate a good crocodile pattern, I don’t seem to like his interpretation of the classic diamond -woven pattern on the handbags and I don’t like the cloth handbags that they seem to reproduce every season nowadays.
For the shoes, it seems like Matthew Blazy is moving on to a more square toe hard to wear shoes that will not be comfortable or appropriate for every day or for everyone. The whole point of having a designer shoe with a hefty price tag is something that you like to wear that is comfortable too. These new Chanel shoes are not designed for comfort or for casual wear. They are made for nights out at important events like weddings or galas and then most probably you will need to change shoes to something more comfortable, like simple flip flops, just to avoid the discomfort.
