Yes, it is a sad state of affairs for Paris and France too. On Sunday morning, a team of four criminals casually came in the morning to the Louver Museum. They very quickly and quietly took a big ladder and positioned it on the first floor of the museum where the jewel is. Then they climbed up the ladder and cut the glass of the window to open it and went inside the museum. Then they cut the glass where the Napoleon and Josephine jewels were and took them and climbed down the ladder and took off with eight jewel pieces, forgetting the gold crown and dropping it on the street in their mad dash to get away.
This jewelry theft was superbly done. Everything went correctly. No laser beams to deter theft, no security to protect the jewels, nothing! It took the thieves just a couple of minutes, some say four minutes, some say seven minutes from the time they put the ladder up to the time they finished and went away on their scooters. Amazing timing! Amazing robbery, but now they are facing criminal charges and there are sixty undercover police officers looking for the four men who did this. Lol! But my gosh! No security! In the Louver! Lol! If they smuggle the jewelry to places like Antwerp, Belgium or Mumbai, India or Istanbul, Turkey, they could possibly dismantle the gold, silver, and diamonds to melt them down and cut the stones. They will be untraceable. The diamonds will make someone a new ring or bracelet and the metals will make someone a lot of money. After possibly a couple of days of the jewels missing, it will be impossible to bring the jewelry back to the museum. I think in all honesty that the jewels are already dismantled as we speak, and the police can possibly catch the thieves, but they will never bring back the jewels. Look below for what kind of priceless and historical items were stolen.
