Valentino Garavani was a fashion designer who inspired many people to live their most extraordinary and extravagant lives.

He is most remembered as the designer responsible for dressing mega-stars such as Elizabeth Taylor and Sophia Loren. While Jaqueline Kennedy got a wedding dress designed by Valentino for her wedding to Aristotle Onassis. Later on, Valentino was credited for dressing movie stars like Gwyneth Paltrow and Julia Roberts.

Valentino lived the dream lifestyle of the rich and famous. He liked to be surrounded by dogs as his favorite pets. He had houses and cars and a yacht. His clothing that he designed reflected his extravagant lifestyle with cutouts emphasizing the waist that had to look movie star perfect. His choice of the color red, later known as “Valentino Red,” was also something that he was known for and something that the fashion world took to like a moth to a flame.

Valentino died in his home in Rome, Italy, on January 19, 2026. He was 93 years old. May he rest in peace.
