Yes, it is true and a little concerning that a company as big and bold as Saks Fifth Avenue and its other bought companies that are under the control of Saks Global, such as Neiman Marcus and Bergadorf Goodman are all possibly on the brink of collapse!
Saks Fifth Avenue Running Out of Cash
Now, Bergadorf Goodman is exclusively only in New York City. Bergadorf has been around for a long time and I have heard that they own the land and the building they occupy. So, in a sense, they are relatively safe from Saks Fifth Avenue and its company, Saks Global, craziness. The fact why Saks Fifth Avenue is going under and taking down Neiman Marcus with it is because they ran out of cash! They stopped paying designers and other companies who do business with them, and now they are billions and billions of dollars in debt. In December 2025, they had their last chance to pay the interest on billions of dollars of debt that they accumulated over years. The 100 million dollars of interest was not paid, and now it’s January 2026! Time has run out. And they filed for bankruptcy. Everyone knew it was coming. You go to both Saks Fifth Avenue and Neiman Marcus these days, and you see empty shelves, lackluster clothing, clothing that has been sitting there unsold for months and months.
A Sign Of The Times
Saks Fifth Avenue and Neiman Marcus are going down because of the times we are living in. Inflation high, economy on the brink of collapse, a recession, a president that wakes up every day and plots some kind of crazy new thing onto the American people. The truth is no matter how pretty or beautiful the elite designers of the world make their clothes or jewels or handbags if people are struggling every day to make ends meet and to put food on the table do you think that people are going to pop into Saks or Neiman Marcus and buy expensive clothing or handbags or God Forbid expensive shoes or jewelry!? No! And the people that have the money to burn and they buy whatever they want do they care about Saks or Neiman Marcus going down? No! The luxury game changed like two years ago when people started buying from small boutiques, independent stores, the big department stores are slowly becoming a thing of the past.
