Pickpockets in Europe
Pickpockets are common in countries where there seems to be a lot of tourist activity. France and Italy specifically seem to have many scammers targeting tourists. A lot of thieves or pickpockets hang around shady places like train stations and bus stops. But you can easily be targeted while out in the streets of any city in the world. Just use your common sense wherever you may go. Keep your extra special things locked away in a private safe place and if possible don’t go out at night. Nighttime thefts, shootings, and knife stabbings, drunk drivers, and illegally drugged people are common as well.
Be aware of your surroundings at all times, especially in touristy areas where there is mass confusion and just too many people and too much distraction and noise. Keep your purses and your money belts tightly closed and wrapped around your body. Backpacks are easy to open and get into because they are behind you. You need to have something that sits on your chest or in front of you so that pickpockets can’t easily get into it. Don’t play with your phone like a maniac that causes distractions, and you can get easily robbed that way. Don’t put purses or phones on restaurant tables when eating outside. Someone looking at you on the street can easily and casually walk up to your table and rob you of your phone and your purse right then and there. Lol
Pickpockets in Europe and Gypsy Everywhere
Be aware of potential scams like people wanting to distract you by being overly aggressive or friendly to you. Also, out on the street, don’t stop to sign any paperwork like some petitions for some “good” cause that you never knew about. In Spain, France, and Italy beware of Gypsy, and Gypsy children who know NO rules or laws. They are everywhere. But all that aside have a fun trip!
